Basking In The Presence

PSALM 96:1-2 Go ahead, sing your new song to the Lord! Let every one is every language sing Him a new song. Don’t stop! Keep on singing! Make His name famous… (TPT)

I sat in this place of waiting and sang Him a song. I raised my voice as words flowed from my lips; words of adoration and exaltation. It didn’t matter how long I would sing because He is worthy. After a few minutes, I felt a shift in the atmosphere, almost like a wind had quickened carrying a fragrance that is pure and calming yet electrifying. My tears increased as my voice broke, I caught a sob between my lips and my heart sang words I could no longer sing.

“Oh, dear Friend, I have come calling to spend time with You. You see, You have my attention and my adoration so here I am, waiting on You. You are worthy! You are worthy! Oh, so worthy of my devotion and my attention. Only You, You’ve captured my heart and I’m all yours…” I knew He was putting these lyrics on my heart; what He desired me to sing and even though my voice was laced with tears, breaking every so often, I sang and sang until all I could sing was whispered from the heart.

Do you know what happened next? My tears became the song as love and surrender flowed hot down my cheeks. Isn’t that how it is sometimes?

What I love most about worshipping the Lord is, He doesn’t care if our voices are award winning. Just sing Him a song from Your heart. Your words don’t have to rhyme, you don’t need a stanza and a chorus – when it’s just You and Him, all that matters is you and Him. The sweetness of surrender and adoration as we worship the One who is worthy of it all.

Psalm 96:4 For the Lord’s greatness is beyond description and He deserves all the praise that comes to Him (TPT)
